Chairman Association of the Czech caraway
EIG is an association of Czech cumin natural and legal persons in the Czech Republic involved in growing, processing and trade with cumin. The Association was founded on the basis of practical requirements on 21/2/1996 Mendel University of Agriculture and Forestry in Brno.
Intensive breeding have also sparked an intense involvement of science and research in this area. To the problems are so involved staff in research institutes and representatives of agricultural universities. At present there are workers AGRITEC Šumperk and the Mendel University of Agriculture and Forestry Brno.
In 2004 the association submitted a request for designation of origin Czech cumin in the EU. After four years of effort, managed to justify this request. From this year, it is 2008, is a commodity Czech cumin holds a protected designation of origin within the EU.
The Czech Republic has the appropriate special conditions for cultivation of cumin, the soil composition and natural conditions connected with the tradition, as long experience in the cultivation of cumin there is no substitute. This obliges us to further purposeful work in this field.
